Vote: Who was Man of the Match against Manchester United?

To be honest I'm not sure I know the answer to this one.

Who was Liverpool's best player against Manchester United?

A process of elimination rules out Pepe Reina - despite a series of goods saves his two mistakes cannot be forgiven - Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and Javier Mascherano.

Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel can count themselves out too, while Fernando Torres was ineffective (although he had no service). On the right, Dirk Kuyt was a ghost at times.

That leaves the substitutes, Ryan Babel - who went off after an hour - Alvaro Arbeloa, and the man I would give it to, Fabio Aurelio.

The Brazilian may not have ran the wings all afternoon long and he may not have whipped in cross after cross, but he did as good a job on Cristiano Ronaldo as could have been expected. True, the Portguese winger got his goal in the end but that had nothing to do with Aurelio.

Aurelio stopping Ronaldo time after time, with ease, was the only highlight of the game.

Where was Gerrard today. He was supposedly captain, and like always in the big Premiership games he goes awol. Mash was out of order in some respects , but showed huge passion unlike many of the players on the pitch.
We showed United far too much respect again, the mindset was totally wrong.
In the big games the tough get going , we had little or no tough on that pitch today and many players sshould hang their heads in shame. Gerrard will never be considered a great until he like Souness of old takes a game like this by the scruff of the neck and dictates what goes on .
