Debate: Now the season is over who do you think will be heading for the exit?

alonso_reina_jumping.jpg

Who will leave Liverpool this summer? It's an intriguing question. One, in fact, which seems more on people's minds than those names who may be coming in.

Just after Christmas, during the awful Wigan, West Ham, Luton spell (you won't need reminding) we asked you who you would like to see fall victim of Rafael Benitez's axe. Bar Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres it seemed no-one was safe, a Melwood chainsaw massacre was seemingly what the fans wanted.

But has that now changed?

I suppose there are two layers to this debate. Who you want to leave (John Arne Riise, Andriy Voronin, Charles Itandje), and who you think will leave (Harry Kewell, Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant).

In fact, there is a third layer - Xabi Alonso. Will he or won't he be at Anfield next season? Does he want to leave? Or is Rafa simply hoping he will? Again, every fan seems to have a different take.

So, what's your view? Who's staying and who's going?

Intandje, Carson, Finnan, Arbeloa, Riise, Guthrie, Le Tallec, Kewell, Pennant, Alonso(?), Voronin & Crouch will & should depart. Carson, Alonso & Crouch won't want to spend next season as subs & the rest just arn't good enough. To challendge next season we need a back up keeper, 2 right backs, 1 left back, 2 right wingers, 1 or 2 left wingers & either 1 or 2 forwards. I say this because I don't know if Rafa will keep Babel on the left or move him upfront. Personally I'd keep him on the left for another season & bring in either Eto'o or Villa & Zarate (on loan) to compete with Kuyt & Torres. For the sub keeper & right back positions I'd bring in Jaaskelanien, Degen & Mendy all on Bosmans. Already we've save money. As for left back either Abidal, Bridge or Emmanuelson to come in & compete with Aurelio & the youngster Insua. For the right wing I'd like to see Joaquin come in & do a swap deal with Wigan for Valencia involving Pennant & cash. Bruce would probably go for this as he'll get cash, a direct replacement & a player he's already worked with before & knows personally. As for the left wing with Sven leaving man.city & a player exouds more than likely, Petrov would be a good signing.

Who I expect to leave:
Scott Carson
Harry Kewell
John Arne Riise
Charles Itandje
Peter Crouch (Sad to see him go)
Xabi Alonso(cash in on him Rafa!)
Steve Finnan
Jermaine Pennant
Danny Guthrie
Anthony Le Tallec

The only player that saw regular time in the XI was Alonso. I think with the possibility of Barry coming in and the emergence of youngsters like Plessis and Lucas. Alonso isn't really needed and Rafa should sell him while he still has value to the likes of Real Madrid.

Players I'm crossing my fingers to see in red:
Gareth Barry, Rafinha, David Bentley, and Sergio Aguero
Positions in dire need of depth:
RB, LB, GK, LWM, and RWM

Interesting question for next year:
Agger/Skrtel who will be the second CB? I think Agger and Skrtel could be a great duo in the future.
