why should i be happy with Degens signing when Man U will sign Alvez???We need to spend money for GREAT players to join the club not money for good players.

I hope he turns out to be the best right back in the Prem and will certainly back him when he pulls on the shirt but.......

..........Welcome to last year?

We've been here before..

He is another Voronin or Arbeloa. Arbeloa played many more games than Peter Crouch.

GIVE THE LAD A CHANCE!!, just because u dont know him u criticise him?! Big money also brings in BIG egos, even if he may end up being shite he much did he cost?

The way I see it is that the guy is free so even if he doesn't work out then odds are we will sell him next year and make money which is a good piece of business.

Also, if he does work out then we have saved ourself a whole bundle of cash which can be spent on a winger instead - a far more important position for us than right back!!

It is sad the American is not backing Rafa in the transfer market.

They should sell their share to Dubai and let someone who is more serious about investing in Liverpool FC to own the club.

Free is good but, we need proven talent and that cost money. Welcome Degen, you need to prove yourself even if you come without any transfer fee.

Give him a chance, he isn't a household name but from what I've seen of him - in recent internationals and the few times I've watched the Bundesliga - he's looked a talented player. Physically up to the game and a good footballer. Look at the players who people frowned at who are now first team players; Skrtel, Arbeloa even the signing of Mascherano was debated.
Anonymity can be advantage - no expectations weighing on his shoulders. Lets see how he plays before you judge him.

Give the guy a chance. Give Rafa a chance - remember last year began with Vorinin on a free and ended with Torres in at £20m plus. Long way to go.

if you want to win the premiership, you need ti sogn daniel alves!!!!!!!

Why is everyone going on about Alves? He is an overrated piece of garbage. Give this guy a chance. The hype with Alves is the exact same as it was with Simao several years ago, I'm sure that not many fans have any idea where he is playing now.

this poll sucks! u can vote as many times as u like

The way I see it the wing areas are our most problematic positions along with left back. Finnan is #1 RB, arbeloa #2 or vice versa, Degan is undoubtedly #3. It's up to him to move up the pecking order. RB is not the problem at Liverpool fc. Hopefully Dossena comes as he should represent good value and fill John's void at LB.
Rafa must be applauded for moving fast this year. I can't remember the last time we'd started this early in the transfer market, albeit a bosman aquistion. I'm expecting a reserve Goalie, Dossena and hopefully Barry to arrive shortly. Whilst our sales will probably be snapped up just as quickly as they are all quality for medium sized teams- Portsmouth, Villa, Shalke etc.
Rafa looks to be tying up the "loose ends" before focusing on the problematic wide positions. Perhaps a very clever ploy as he'd be in a position to splash every last cent of his transfer kitty on one wing man once all other transactions are completed. To me this would be the logical way, but as always my faith is in Rafa!!!
In Rafa We Trust

I do not know much about Degen. We should be aiming for better know player like Daniel Alves. However Rafa may not got the backing of the American owners on his transfer kitty. Rafa may just unearth a gem here.
