Keane or Villa, who would you prefer?

After admitting yesterday that Valencia's superstar forward David Villa, 26, was one of the names on his summer transfer hit list, Reds boss Rafa Benitez has now performed something of a u-turn by revealing he will not be making an offer for the Euro 2008 top goalscorer.

Instead, when quizzed about alternative targets for the forthcoming campaign, Benitez remained coy on the subject of apparent interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane. However, he did admit the Republic of Ireland record scorer, who recently turned 28, was one of the players on his radar: "I said the other day that he is one of the names we had on our list, but I can say at this moment that it is not an option for us.

"We know Villa is a very good player, we know the price and we know the players we have, so when you consider everything we decided he was one of the names, but at this moment, not our target. Keane is one of the other names and okay we are still working with other names. We were in contact and we will see now."

But who would you prefer given the choice? They're both fantastic strikers and prolific in front of goal, but if you were Rafa who would you choose to partner Torres next season?

Does Benitez know the rules concerning players who are contracted to other clubs? It seems not. He also continues to make stupid remarks he can't back up. Any team would want Villa, unfortuntaley for Liverpool, they can't afford him. Please Rafa stop talking bollocks.

I am surprised Podolski has never been mentioned to go to Liverpool.

Podolski seems to be in the Rafa mould as he can play multiple positions and is still young. I'm sure Rafa could pay 17 million for him and I feel he has more upside than Barry.

Also gives Babel the chance to move over to the right wing where he is more comfortable.

Hey Dee, Rafa doesnt talkbollocks he has come out and said he cant afford the asking price for Villa, he said he was 1 of the targets but after the euro's his price went up so as stated he cant now afford him.
Kean, Silva or similar is now an option.

I'm with you Matt. I can't believe Podolski hasn't been more of a serious target. I think he could be a great Prem player, he's got the pace and the skill to develop into quite a talent. I'd much rather have him then Barry. I still don't understand why we are getting rid of Xabi, who has had several good seasons in Red when he's been healthy, and (trying to) add in Barry, who I have never been that impressed with. Guess that's why I'm not the gaffer...

I'm guessing Rafa has really enjoyed watching the Barry/Gerrard partnership for the national team. So he is trying to replicate it for his own squad.

But 17 Million and Finnan?

They could probably get away with Pennant and 12 Million for Bentley..

So many more options then just Barry.
