Would you be sorry to see birthday boy leave?
It's Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin's 29th birthday today. But will he be here to celebrate the big 30 next summer?
He certainly hasn't set the world alight since his arrival on Merseyside on a free transfer last July. After a promising start which saw him hammer home a match-winning strike against Toulouse in the south of France just four days after signing for the Reds, the somewhat less than 'Divine Ponytail'ed forward only managed a further five goals in 26 appearances for the Reds last term which hardly endeared him to the Kop.
Upon his arrival it appeared he was already fighting an uphill battle to win over the fans who were less than enamoured by Rafa Benitez' first acquisition of summer 2007. However, after spending 12 years playing in the less-frenetic German Bundesliga, were we expecting too much from the Ukrainian?
Two goals in two games in pre-season so far including an exquisite chip in the win over FC Lucerne suggests he may have finally dug out his old shooting boots, but with a number of German clubs rumoured to be interested, would you shed a tear if Andriy left Anfield after just one season?
