Pies Poll: Who was to blame for Liverpool's footballing apocalypse?

I'm so angry I'm not even going to sit here and justify why this poll is here. We all saw that pathetic attempt to play football (perhaps that's even a bit generous), and I couldn't quite work out how we were so bad. Perhaps you could help clear up the mystery for us...

Gerrard pips Fernando to player of the month gong – but only just...

77839209.jpg

Well, in one of the closest – nay, the closest – polls we've run, Steven Gerrard snuck home with the much-coveted Pies Player Of The Month gong.

Hundreds of you flooded the poll with your votes, and in the end a measly three – that's THREE – votes separated Torres's 42% and Stevie's 43%.

Behind them, well, was everyone. Yossi and Masch grabbed himself 3% of the vote each, which was enough for fourth and third respectively. The rest got less votes than Hope on the X Factor, which we're guessing was around 8.

Anyway, we suppose the congrats must got to both our contenders, but it's Stevie whose mantle piece is adorned with his first Pies Player award. Better move that Champions League medal to make room...

Liverpool's biggest crisis for years - Gillett, Hicks and Benitez: Who is right?

If you've been to the site in the last few days, you'll have seen a furious debate raging about the comments of Rafa and the owners. Back-biting, sniping and general unrest have been the order of the day, and that was just the people who commented.

We like to give you the final word on Liverpool Pies, so we'd like you to let your feelings known in our poll. Is Rafa right to complain about the owners getting involved in matters that are our of their remit? Or are they perfectly within their rights to put their feet down? (Even if they know nothing about football).

Let us know, and keep the comments coming in. Once all the votes are in, we'll be writing a full and frank response and we'll be posting it on the site and taking it to Anfield. So, make your voice heard.

Momo Sissoko – gone in January, say Pies' readers

76772017.jpg

We've never shied way from being critical of our beloved Reds, and now, for the first time, neither have you.

We asked you on Sunday eve who you thought should be for the chop if we need to raise serious finance for a January assault on the market, and in the space of three days you've voted (literally) in your thousands to condemn the names of Scott Carson and Momo Sissoko.

Daily Poll: If we do have to sell to buy, who's gonna be for the chop?

**Update - voting closes at 10pm tonight. There's 3,000 votes and counting so far, so come on and tell us who we should get rid of to reduce the wage bill, thus allowing us to buy some real quality in January. Not long 'til Pies Sam reveals the winner, and presents him with two tickets out of Liverpool airport...**

As the nights draw in and the calendar comes to a close, it can mean only one thing: Silly Season.

The rumours have started already, and, if you believe many of the varied reports bouncing around, then you'll have predominantly heard one thing: Rafa's been told he has to sell before he can buy come January's transfer window.

Has the international break come at a good time for us?

For the third (THIRD, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!) time this season, the domestic calender is interrupted for somewhat pointless international fixtures.

We here at Pies, for one, are walking around with heads drooping. It won't surprise anyone when we say that, of the two international breaks, our form going in to th break and resultant form coming out hasn't been cause for celebration, and this weekends stoppage is bearing uncomfortable comparison.

The first international break came on the back of 12 goals in three games, propped up by the 6-0 Derby demolition. Alas, returning a week later, that run was bookended by three back-to-back draws, and some of our most disappointing football of the year.

The second international break, arguably, did us a favour. While we'd broken our mini-slump by recording victories against Wigan and Reading, the home defeat to Marseille and draw with Spurs weren't exactly how we'd seen those results going. Even so, coming back from the break, the frenetic Merseyside derby win was as inspiring as the defeat to Besiktas that followed was crushing.

You'll see, then, why we're not jumping for joy about the break, especially considering our 10 goals in the last two games. Even so, with time afforded now to the recuperation of Torres, Agger and Alonso, it could yet prove a good thing ahead of our tricky trip to Newcastle in 10 days' time.

So how will this latest international break affect us? Use the poll above, and feel free to drop us a line below with your thoughts, worries or hopes for the next few, Premiership-less games.

Fernando Torres your number one against Fulham

77839295.jpg

Twenty minutes isn't a long time. In twenty minutes, you can walk to the shop and buy a paper. You can cook yourself a reasonable meal from the freezer. You can have a shower, shave, and brush your teeth. Not a lot, really.

If your name is Fernando Torres, though, you can change a game of football. That is, in the minds of 39 per cent of the Pies community. Thanks to his twenty minute goal-scoring salvo, you once again threw your weight behind El Nino, elevating him above the Monster Masch in second (20 per cent) and Yossi Benayoun (11 per cent) in third.

Our congrats go out to Nando, whose English still isn't good enough to understand them.
